GIANT OIL GUSHER
TAMED AT LAST

NEW YORK, April 4
Later news Irom Oklahoma City states that the giant wild oil gusher, cabled on , April 4, was brought under control late this' evening,, after a pic ked crew of men had worked - for 36 hours to strap a three thousand pound “C hristmas Tree” cone over its mouth, thus .stemming the tide of oil and gas, which had flooded the neighbourhood for days, with a tremendous 'loss of valuable products. These workers were under the direction of Mr Homer, who is famed for taming wild oil wells. He flew there from Tulsa. , Several of the men were overcome during the lashing of the cap to the well, while they were forced to work armpit deep in the oil.
It is unknown even now whether the well will remain under control, for it was covered once previously to-day out it broke, loose again. The farmers and dairymen in I he vicinity suffered great losses from the escaping gases, while the well owners have estimated their loss at 75,000 dollars daily' for nine days, each of which days saw the loss of above 150,000 000 cubic feet of gas.
