PALMERSTON N., April 4. A fatal accident occurred to-day in the rugged hill country olf the Ruahines, back ‘of Apiti, when Ivo' Cummerfield, aged 32 years, farmer, received a rifle bullet in the tlugh. ■. Deceased with his companion, Albert Dick, left on a deer stalking expedition two of three days ago. Dick reached Table Flat after an arduous . race through seven miles 1 of bush •„ with news of the accident. A relief party went out and a doctor and police followed, but on returning to 1 the scene Cummerfield was dead.. Before leaving deceased for -assisance, Dick did all he could-to staunch the wound. The body was brought several miles from the snowline in the Ruahines, where the fatality oc- ' curred, and the remainder of the journey will be undertaken to-mor-row.
