AN OIL GUSHER
BREAKS ALL BOUND'S. COUNTRYSIDE IN GRAVE DANGER [United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.] (Received this day at 10 a.m.) NEW YORK, April 2. A message from Oklahoma City states: One of tlie greatest fite hazards was created here when a new gusher, brought ni near toe city, lias .been spouting daily lor six days as much as two hundred thousand barrels of oil, under an impetus of two million cubic feet <>l gas. Oil winkers have been unable to control the well, which is one of tlie most sensational gushers, in American petroleum exploitation. The entire area within a mile and a half radius, including many valuable farms, have been abandoned. The people are standing waist ile.p in oil streams, which have floated as far as ten 'miles away. All efforts to collar the well failed, and a spark would imperil the city, creating a floating fire. Inhabitants are fleeing from the area. A hundred other wells nearby have been abandoned. The losses run into many millions.
