SUSPENSION I?EDUCED. By Telegraph—Per Press AssociationA AUCKLAND, April 1. A decision to remove the suspension imposed on the jockeys, W. A. Rennie, J. H. M.cllae, and A. J. Gilmer, as from May >sl, was made by the Auckland District Committee in June, DCS. As the result of an inquiry into the riding of horses in two highweight handicaps at Rotorua races in the preceding February the Judicial Committee o£.-the Rotorua Racing Club disqualified Rennie and Gilmer for twelve months, and Mcßae for six The jockeys appealed, and the Auckland District Committee, in dismissing the appeals, increased the penalty in each case to two years’ disqualification, as from June 29, 1928. Subsequently the disqualification was alter ed to suspension.
The effect of the action </ the District Committee in reducing the term by one month, to end on May 31, is that the jockeys, if they succeed in obtaining licenses, will be able to ride at the Auckland Racing Club's winter meeting in June. They arc all hurdle horsemen, so that the concession will come at an opportune time for them.
TROTTERS SOLD. CHJUSTCHURH, April 1. At the sale of trotting stock at Rangiora yesterday the bay gelding Sonoma was sold for £4lO, a brown stallion, Sonom'a-Harvester £230, a I brood mare Gwenchild, with foal at foot, £200; a yearling bay colt by Sonamo-Harvester £IBO, and a bay gelding two years, £IOO. MICHAEL HOLTS. WHANGAREI, April 1. As a result of injuries, when bolting this morning, Michael will be a non-starter at the races, and is not likely to race again. A boy, John Hughes, suffered concussion when thrown, but is progressing favourably at the hospital. THREE SUSPENSIONS. WHANGAREI, April 1, The Whangarei.
