DEFENCE REFORM
MAORI WAR VETERANS’ OPPOSITION. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, April 1. A vigorous protest against t-Ire proposal to abolish military training was made by the Taranaki Maori War Veterans’ Association to-day, when old campaigners of from seventy to ninety years of age, spoke of there being the necessity fo" young men to* lie taught .o defend their country. It was decided to urge the Government not to consider the proposals to abolish training. Chief speakers were Lieut.-Col. C. H. Weston. D. 5.0., and ChaplainColonel F. G. Evans.
