SCENIC RESORTS

A VISITOR'S TESTIMONIAL. WELLINGTON, 'March 31. It is the opinion of the Hon P. A. de !a Perrelle, Minister in charge of the Tourist and Publicity Departments, that the. scenic and general attractions of Now Zealand are becoming better known. ' “1 have,” said the Minister, “been away up north and down south visit mg the different resorts to see how our visitors are catered for. There is a fine spirit everywhere evident in both islands to show our attraction. As 1 said ,before, we have the goods to offer, and What has impressed me a great deal is the keenness of all concerned in showing them. Down south and on the West Coast of the South Island people are beginning to recognise the value of encouraging visitors to our shores, and, what is important, looking after them when they do come. An overseas visitor whom I met on the West Caost remarked to me: ‘‘posh! You’ve got the stuff here to show, and I am very pleased that youi country is doing what other countries are doing,: bringing it under notice. There is no doubt New Zealand is a wonderful country, rfiul the people are wonderf.ful also. New Zealanders work, and their work tells. I preach the gospel of work, and it is fine to see > a young country recognise real hard w.ork. I think that the money being spent in further popularising your tourist attractions—not that they need much boosting—is money well spent.” “J think that our friend from overseas has correctly guaged the position,” said Mr cte ja Perrelle. “As. long as I am Minister in charge of the Department I will do all I can to see that they go ahead. A pleasing feature to me .is the eagerness of the. officers of the Tourist Department to help in facilitating visitors through New Zealand, and to assist in providing ifo t their comforts. The staff, from my inquiries, is working well to do what it can for visitors. That’s the spirit I like to see.”
