Bis..op (Secretary) and the representatives of the l nited Aline Workers of New Zealand (Messrs J. Smcaton and A AicLagan) and Alessrx Barber and Purdy (of the Grey Valley Workers’ Union) opened to-day here. The proceed ngs were in the nature of a preliminary -discussion on the dispute at Ifd/xm U'-jiiiilregaird i-.ng the safety question and the reports as to the gas content of a coal in the rise workings. It was decided to defer further discussion -of the dispute by the Coal Owners’ Executive and the miners’ representatives until to-morrow.
