FINANCIAL OUTLOOK. (Australian Press Association) SYDNEY, Ala rob 30. The Commonwealth loan conversions have been -so successful that the loan closes on April 7th. After a respite the Australian r nun Council will go on the market for new money. In the. meantime, the loan quotations on ’change are improving. Stock Exchange investments market ended the week quietly. It was houyant owing to the covering operations by the “beans,” and there was some fairly large buying on behalf ol investors seeking for sound stocks for permanent holding. J)R OWNING FATA LIT A’. (Received this 4nv at in a.m A SYDNEY. March 31. Caught in a strong undertow at Black Head beach, near Ballina. a man named Xott and Airs Piercv were swept out to sea and drowned. Piercv was unable to rescue his daughter who was also in difficulties. Nott’s body lias not been recovered.
LIQUOR. POLL RESULT. MELBOURNE, March 31. The liquor poll resulted in a sweeping victory for the wets. Hie latest figures are:—For abolition of liquor licenses, 384,328; against 502,789. Tt will be eight years before another licensing poll is held.
