THE BAIL ADJOURNS. NEW MINISTRY’S ELECTION. [United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copy righ fc. ] DUBLIN, March 28. The Irish Free State Government was defeated on a Bill for extending the old age pensions, which was introduced by the De Valera Party. The Bill was opposed by the Government on the grounds that it would involve an extra cost of from £290,009 to £390.009 vearlv.
The Bill was supported by the Labour Party and by some of the Independents. 'The Dai 1 Eireann has adjourned until next Wednesday, when it will proceed with the election of the new President. Air O’Kell.v who acts as the Leader of Air De Valera’s Party in the absence of Mr Do Valera, said that his Party was prepared to nominate ATr De Valera as President. 'The general belief in Dublin is that Air De Valera will he defeated, and that Air Cosgrove will be re-elected. Mr -Cosgrove was elected to the Presidency of the Free State in 1922, and was re-elected in 1927. FREE STATE POLITICS. LONDON, March. 29. The Free State Labour Party is predicting De Valera’s enhances of election by announcing a decision to propose that their own leader O’Connell, should succeed Cosgrave.
