NEW PLANETS

ADVICE OF DISCOVERY. WELLINGTON, Alarch 25. Dr C. E. Adams,-Government Astronomer, has been advised by the International Astronomical Union at Copenhagen, via AleiUourne, that the Lowell Observatory has reported the discovery on Alarch 12th of an object of the fifteenth magnitude in a position 7sec west of Beta Gernina, a position agreeing with Professor Lowell’s calculation for an ultra-Neptune planet. Dr Adams, says that the information is very vague, and that this is an unusual way of designating the position of a heavenly body.

Dr Adams was also advised in the same cablegram of the discovery of a new comet which is not likely to be seen in this part of the world.
