Marchess Marconi’s 'telephony achievement at Sydney indicates an interesting (battle with the American International Coy, operating between ship and shore in a service across the Atlantic, on which thq best result hitherto has been two thousand miles. ARMY BEEF CONTRACTS
LONDON, March 25
In the House of Commons, Mr Shinwell, dealing with the question of the supply of British meat and bread for the Army, pointed out' that the Conservative Government had previously insisted that the cost of purely British supplies was prohibitive. Moreover the hulk of the Army heel was drawn from the Dominions. Were they to destroy the Dominion trade because of a dubious advantage for the British farmer. To supply the army with British grown beef had in six months cost £200,000
