A two storied, eleven roomed house owned and occupied by .1. Harrison, was totally destroyed by are late on Saturday. The occupants were -all away at the time. The fire engine brokq down on the way to- the house and was transferred to a motor, but the fire had too great a hold. Insurance pn house is £2COO, and furniture £4OO in South British Office.

Late last evening the body of Frederick George Peters of Hawcra, manager ol a brush factory was found ill a gas filled room in the factory building On Saturday morning deceased left home stating he was going to Stratford on business. As he had failed to return a search was made of tlie factory by a neighbour who discovered Peters lying on the floor of a' room,. Deceased leaves a wife and young-family of lour.

Two boys lost their lives' •’ liy -drownbig in Auckland during the week-end by slipping from li narrow path into a dam at the Chelsea Sugarworks. A Chinese fruiterer, formerly of To Arolia, named Jam Gow, was sentenced By Air Hunt 5.M.,, in . the Police Coi/rt to-day to two months’ imprisonment for a breach of the Bankruptcy Act.
