A sensation ns been aroused in political quarters in Rumania by the action of Senator Corrtescu, who has raised in the Senate, for the first time since 1926, the question of ex-CVown Prince Carol’s position.
Prince Carol renounced his right ol accession to the Rumanian throne in 1926 and was. banished, following repeated with his father the late King Ferdinand, to whom his love affairs had been a cause of unhappiness and great anxiety. On the death of Ferdinand Prince Carol’s -son Michael became King in 1927 at the age of 5 and is ruling under a Regency. M. Corncscu has now declared in the Senate that Prince Carol’s forced abdication was a moral murder, worse than physical assassination and a crime which it is the duty of all patriots to repair. He demands satisfaction from the Government, recalling the late King Ferdinand’s desire to remedy the evil done.
M. Cornesou’is speech was greeted with cheers and manv senators have congratulated him. The reply of the
Premier, M. Manin is eagerly awaited. It was stated that the Regency Council, on M. Mania’s advice, bad refused a new application for permission for Prince Carol to return to Ruman-
