S.S. WAITEMATA
3} Telegraph—Per Press Association.) I AVESTPORT, March 23. Thirty-three -members of the crew of the U.S.S Coy’s steamer “Waitemata” appeared before Messrs Fox and Scanlon, Justices of the Peace, on Saturday morning, charged with a refusal to take the vessel to sea,' her destination being Suva. Evidence was heard in which it was made clear that the crew would take the .Vessel to -Wellington-provided tlpit the Chief Engineer did not sail with them. A conviction and line for the assault of a v fireman were recorded against the Chief Engineer of the Waitemata during the vessel’s stay in AVestport. The court adjourned until Monday morning on the understanding that the (jrew would resume and take the vessel to AVcllington, without the Chief Engineer, who is to leave overland to-morrow 'morning. The AVaitemata sailed for Wellington ,tliis morning at 4.25 o’clock.
