WATABOA STOCK SALE

The yearly Autumn fixture at the above yards was held on Wednesday last, the yarding being eon lined principally to far South stock which were brought 'forward in good condition especially the cattle. The total yarding comprised 3fi3 head of cattle and 471 sheep. Prices on the whole were equal to the average of former sales at those yards for cattle lines—but there was a marked drop in the values paid for all classes of sheep. Sellers were however prepared to take the market prices and a total clearance was made. The,top prices for cattle was made by a pen of fat bullocks for Air Jas. Al.nl—vaney £l4 10s being recorded while a pen of forward Hereford steers lor the Haast Estate made £l3 os.
W. Jeffries Co’s entry was 131 head of cattle and two pens of sheep. The following sales being made.— For Eggeling Bros 12 steers at £ll 17s Gd; 11 do at £8; 318 month heifers at £5 os. For Jas. Mulvancy 9 bullocks at £l4 10s; I cow at £lO 10s. For the Haast Estate, 5 steers at £l3 os, 19 do. at £lO 15s o heifers at £lO 12s fid; 3 fat cows at £l2 2s fid; 12 heifers at £9. For. Nolan Bros, 8 steers at £ll 12s fid; 10 do. at £ll 2 fat cows at £l2 os ; 6 heifers at £9 17s fid; 3 cows at £lO 15s; 4 do. at £9 2s fid. For a client, 5 heifers at £7 10s fid 2 runners at £4 2s fid; 3 cows at £B. For Jas. Green pen 2 tooth wethers at 245. For T. Condon pen aged ewes at 15s. For S. Heyward aged grey gelding at £l2 10s.

The half-yearly autumn sale of cattle and sheep took place at Wntaroa on Wednesday, before a representative and good attendance ol buyers. Generally speaking, both cattle and sheep were yarded in good condition, especially as some ol the bigger lines of cattle bad been from ten day to a fortnight on the road and bad travelled distances in the vicinity of 150 miles prior to the sale. Altogether the yarding of cattle ranged from 850 to 400 head, together with a similar number of sheep. . The National Mortgage and Agency Company report having offered an entry of 110 head of well bred Hereford and shorthorn cattle resulting Tn■ keen competition for the total yarding. The following were the principle sales:—Account Mrs Edward Cron, (U'B-J- year forward Hereford steers at £1.2 each, 20 2.) year steers at £ll 17s-fid, 12 2.) year Hereford heifers at £lO each, 3 fat cows at £ll 2s fid. 1 Account Nolan Bros., 20 2.) year Hereford Shorthorn steers from £ll 2s.fid to £ll 10s a piece, 12 2.1 year store Hereford short horn steer,s at £lO IDs each, 8 24 year forward heifers at £9,: 15s, 3 fat Hereford cows at £l2 10s each, 5 fat Hereford and shorthorn cows at .CIO 15s each. ‘ —■ •
