FOXTON, March 23

Captain L. Hays. M.C., of the Marine Department, after a lengthy, period of research and investigation, has definitely discovered spawning grounds of the parent fish of the whitebait. 'These he found six mites from the Heads in the Manawatu River.

Captain Hayes finds .that spawning takes place on the rush and reed covered mud flats during full tide. The result of his discovery will pro.itl.4y have a beneficial effect non the future of the whitebait industry.
