BOY’S REVOLT,

Forty boys in the Kattendorf Reformatory revolted. They destroyed furniture and smashed windows. Police and firemen were called in, and they quelled the outbreak. The ringleaders explained that they had rioted because they wanted to be sent to prison where superior kinema shows and good food were provided. BANK RATE REDUCED. LONDON, March 20. Air Blair of the Bank of America, announced an additional issue of five million dollars Sydney bonds, twentyfive years, .at five per cent, to be sold on the same terms as those, cabled on 3rd March. The Bank of Amerioa states the announcement is merely a matter of record ns all the bonds had been previously taken up. VESSEL SEIZED. VANCOUVER, March 20. Through ttie sinking of her sister ship, the Chief Maquilla, off the Aleutians, six months ago, Canadian American Company, the owners, face a number of suits aggregating half a million dollars for loss of caigo. It is alleged the vessel was unseaworthy and improperly loaded. The Admiialty Court at Shanghai held an enquiry and exonerated the crew.
The Chief C'apilano carries two million feet of lumber and a valuable cargo. The delay' will prove . mostly, r -s the cargo is under a delivery contract.
The owners declared the secure is illegal, and they have protest*! to Ottawa.
PROTEST LODGED,
VANCOUVER, March 20,
The British Consul, Mr Pelly, has lodged a protest with the I'edcral Court over the action of the United States Coastguard in firing on the freighter, Chief C'apilano, of Vancouver, and the seizure of the ship in Canadian waters to satisfy' a suit brought by the insurers of cargo lost in another vessel owned by the same company.

The Board of Trade’s merchant shipping advisory committee’s repc-t recommends an international load line with heavier over-loading penalties, which should be recoverable by distress or sale of the ship, and also the establishment of national inspection services at all ports.
