A Wellington correspondent says:— Xew Zealand’s new Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, is a spare, alert gentleman, who wears his resplendent official uniform as if to the manner born, though for once tradition is broken .by departing from a long line of military or naval officers for the position. Lady Bledisloe began to win popularity from the moment of landing. The first to greet the Governor-General and Ladv Bledisloe were members of the Wellington Harbour Board. This meant an informal reception, when it was noticed that Lady Bledisloe chatted a most lively fashion with her new-found friends. Her Excellency is vivacious, and it was evident when the official party stopped amid the huge crowd outside the Wellington Town Hall for a brief welcome from the Mayor and Councillors that her smiling personality created a distinct impression.
