DOMINION ITEMS.

IN EXPLANATION,

(By Telegraph—-Press Association)

S PALMERSTON N., March 19,

Hornblow (Chairman of the Palmerston North Hospital Board) in reference to Dr Gordon’s statement, said Dr Gordon is quite wrong assuming tl have opposed an appeal in any form whatever. AVhen speaking at a meeting of the Hospital Board I did not' oppose making a grant but merely pointed out that a standard medical education was required. Raising this was rather a- national matter. The medical school was establiscd in the interests of the whole community and thb community as a whole should exJiect to pay. Personally I wish to appeal for every success for by the raising of money whatever can be done to lower the maternal mortality rate in New Zealand, the effort will be more than worth while.
