L.HtD BLEDLSLOE ARRIVES

WELLINGTON. March 19,

The liner “linngitikei” bearing Lord and Lady Bledisloe, arrived in the stream last night. Their Excellencies will disembark at 10 o’clock this morning. Tlie arrangements are as previously made.

After spending the night in the harbour aboard tile Rangitiki the new Governor-General disembarked on the ferry steamer Aluratai at 9.45, landing at Pipitea wharf, where a large crowd had assembled to take part in the welcome by the Chairman, members and officials of the Harbour Board.

Prior to the welcome Lord Bledisloe inspected the Guard of Honour provided by the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve.

After this function there was n great outburst of cheering and waving of handkerchiefs, as the official party proceeded on the way to the Town Hall through streets lined with people ,to he welcomed by the Mayor and City Councillors. Prior to landing, Major Bathurst 'military and private secretary), Day (official secretary) and Sir John Lanham (aide), tho Administrator of New Zealand (Sir Michael Alyers, Chief Justice), the Acting Prime ATinistcr, Hon. G. Forbes, Minister of the Crown, G.O.C. New Zealand forces, Chief and General Staff and Senior Naval Officer went aboard the liner. A noteworthy feature of the inaugural welcome was the presence of planes flying over the liner earlier in tho morning.
