In a short time men will be put in charge to carry out general repairs. On the whole the buildings are in good order, and visiting members oi its company have expressed entire satisfaction. A plant for research work is to be placed on the premises in a short time. The headquarters of the iesearcli staff are at present at Petono, but it is expected a transfer will shortly he made to Whakatane. Ma-

Six tractors arc engaged in ploughing new areas for planting flax on the Rangitaiki this winter. The flax already planted is doing, well and is responding wonderfully to cultivation.
