The following account of an unusual experience was forwarded to the “Nelson Mail” by a Takaka resident: “Riding along the Awaroa Beach on February 28, Mr F. G. Hadfield and his son saw a large shark, cruising about in a small lagoon, where the tide had left it in four feet of water. They rode in and attacked it with their only available weapon, and old slasher, and a fish-hook fastened to a stick. The shark snapped at the horses legs, or darted between them to avoid the blows. Springing from the bank, and seizing the monster by the fin, their dog was precipitated into the water. He was attacked by the shark, but escaped with the loss of some df his hair. After an exciting fight, the fish was dispatched by a few well-directed blows, and with great effort dragged beyond reach of the tide. It measured seven feet in length was four feet six inches across the fins, while its mouth measured fifteen inches.” You will quickly relievo a, cough or cold if you inhale “ Nazol.” Powerful and penetrating. A unique, never-fail-ing remedy. Prioe la dd.—Advt.
