CONTROL OF DEER
MINISTER TO CALL A CONFERENCE.
DUNEDIN, March 11
There has been for some time a controversy over the control of deer in New Zealand. To-day, the Minister rer Internal Affairs (the Hon. P. A. i.e la Pferreile) stated that he had gone very carefully into the whole quesiton, and it had been decided to hold a conference of those interested in Christchurch on May 7 th.
J't is understood that the proposed conference will be fully representative of all parties concerned, namely, the Department of Internal Affairs, the Acclimatisation Societies of the Dominion, the Forestry Department, and the Farmers’ Federation.
‘‘lt is,” remarked Mr de la Perrelle, ‘‘mv desire to see some equitable arrangement made for the control of deer, and I think when the personnel of the conference is announced it will have the confidence 'of all interested in this vexed question.”
