■ iey was continued to-day under the best weather conditions. Play was last and exciting, and there was a large number of spectators. The work of the Wha.ngarei team was outstanding in merit. Owing to two Matangi ponies escaping from their paddock lest night end sustaining injuries, Matangi A defaulted to Waitoa (3)* Ihe morning’s games resulted: Matangi C (8) beat Waimai C (17) 20—17; Whangarei (12) heat Matangi B (8) 14—12; Wailiou A (1) beat Te Awainutu (4) 10—9.
