AMERICAN DOCTOR’S PRAISE

AUCKLAND, March 10

“While medical research work ir. New Zealand is rather limited, I find that the work of the profession is of flie very highest standard,” said Dr. F. E. 'Wiedemann, of Indiana, who is returning home by the Aorangi after a visit to the. Dominion and Australia. Dr. Wiedemann, who has travelled in many countries, making observations of medical advancement and the conduct of hospitals, spent a week in the North Island before going to Australia.

“I met some cf the leading medical men and I found them to he just as veil versed in surgical and medical matters as those I met in Europe,” said Dr. 'Wiedemann. “In New Zealand there is a little more conservatism in surgical work than in America, but this I think is an admirable quality.” In both New Zealand and Australia hospitals seemed to be splendidly equipped, and surgical work yva s being done under the highest scientific conditions. Dr. Wiedemann was impressed bv the work done at Rotorua sanatorium, which, lie said, deserved all publicity possible, not only in the Dominion but in other countries.
