It was stated that the young man, Hubert oohn Bolton, aged 20, described as a iaioourer, would plead guilty to the other two charges, which were adjourn-ed-until next Thursday. With his arrest, a number of robberies which took place in the Remuera district at the end of February have been satisfactorily cleared up.

-Vrr Hammond stated that Bolton was the adopted son of foster parents who were dead. He had been born in Milton, Otago, where he had spent most of his life. Lately he had been wandering round the country doing very little work. Three weeks after his arrival in Auckland, he commenced a series of thefts and other offences, which he now admitted. Accused had been caught by a constable as he was standing in a shop doorway in Newmarket at night, and he had then in his possession two screwdrivers and a pair of pliers, while he was armed with a small American revolver. The amount of damage which Bolton had done by tampering with slot-machines was about £2O, while he had also committed thefts from the caretaker’s premises at Oarlaw Park, and from the Remuera Tennis Club.

The Magistrate remanded accused for sentence until Thursday.
