The Army rill? meeting opened this morning in dull, fine weather, there are Off! competitors being 56 in advance of last year. The total strength of all ranks is 829. Brigadier Bulges addressed the assembly impressing upon contestants the necessity of discipline and good conduct. Everything possible lias been accomplished to ensure the comfort and health <>l youths, forty per cent of whom are- attending the meeting. t t!ie first occasion that every unit of the Territorial and Cadet forces of New Zealand are represented. also Naval and Ail. Keenness is manifested, particular interest being centred in the competition previous to the King’s medallists, the present holder being Sergeant-Major ,). Kearny, of Napier, who secured
the service championship at the recent National Rifle Association meeting. Sergeant-Major Moore (Wanganui) who won the Army championship and King’s medal at the initial meeting in 1923 is a competitor. Also Captain W. Masefield (Blenheim) who was second at the rifle championship a week ago.
