THREE MEN HURT

WELLINGTON, March 8.

At a quarter to two this afternoon a serious car smash occurred in Glenmore/ Street, a little above the Botanical Gardens. A light car, running to town, wits crossing in front of a tram, it is. stated, when it was thrown into the bank with great force. All three, occupants were men. They were in- , jurod about the head. The driver, who gave the name of A. J. Lynch, of Pine Street, escaped the lightest, all three were taken to the hospital. 1 The car was completely wrecked. The victims were Wilson, aged 29, of Tinakori Road, and Cyril, of No. 79 Abel Smith Street, who is suffering from severe injuries. He was operated on last night, and is now conscious. \. J. Lynch, of 117 Pirie Street, has returned home from the hospital.

SPEEDWAY SMASH

WELLINGTON, March 9. While competing in a dirt track motor-cycle race at Kilburnie Stadium on Saturday .night, J. Hollis (Austra- I ha) fell and the cycle ridden by R. Blake, also of Australia, appeared to strike him, and he was taken to the hospital suffering with very severe lacerated wound on the left arm, concussion. and shock.
