The first day of the Napier Park meeting opened in dull weather, with rain threatening. ' Rain earlier in the day did not seriously affect the going. The track is fair and attendance good. Oma'ranui Handicap:—(4) Jen 1, (6) King’s Jest 2, (5) Diana’s Lad 3. Also started: Red Bank, Essential, Ruakuponga, Heather Blend. Won by a head. Time 3.i6. Esk Hack:—(B) Keen 1, (1) Belle Star 2, (4) Cloyne 3. Also started: Royal Opera, Tourist, Abbey . ..Queen, Ka.hu Ariki, Pereke. YVon by a length, Time 1.14 2-5. Sapling Stakes: —(4) Rapallo 1, (6) Cyclinder 2; (3) Henry of Navarre 3. 17 started. YVon by a head; second half a length away. Time 1.14. FLEMINGTON RACES. AMOUNIS WINNINGS NOW TOTAL £37,796. MELBOURNE, March 6. The weather was fine and warm for the races at Flemington, and the going was fast., Tlie attendance was large. Amounis was second in the early stages, but ran out in front in the straight in the Lloyd Stakes and won nicely. Greenline made a game effort, but 'was not a match for the winner, who has now scored eight victories in succession. The rider, Pike, won previously on Gothic, and also rode a dead heat on the same horse.. Amounis’ stakes now total £37,796. Autumn Hurdles: —Chum-tree .1, Ember 2, Royal Comedian 3. Nine started. Won easily. Time 4.375. C. M. Lloyd Stakes:—Amounis 1, Greenline 2, Parsee 3. These were the only starters. Amounis won by a length. Time 1.38^. Ascot Vale Stakes: —Thurstone 1. Autumn Handicap : —Cumbrian 1 Finsbury 2, Mondiago 3. Won .by four lengths. Time 2.025. Governor’s Plate: —Pliar Lap eage 2, High Syce'3. Time 2.83 i, a race record. Pliar Lap led always m the Governor’s Plate and comfortably. Pike was unable to make the weight. It was ERott’s first weiglit-for-age victory. River Handicap:— Master Lunette 1 Hebrus 2, Unique 3.
