EVERYBODY* PICTURE* ;- “BROADWAY SCANDALS.” TO-NIGHT AND WEDNESDAY. All Talking, Singing, Dancing, Revut>. “Broadway Scandals/’ the Columbia ali-talking, 'singing, dancing musical c4>medy sensation which opens at the >4nrincess Theatre to-night is entertainment of the best sort. It has pretty gorgeous costumes/snappy dance numbers plus a love story that ia beautiful and tender. Laughs greeted -practically every line of the clever dialogue; the.plot is neatly constructed, and nearly everybody left the theatre humming or whistling the song hit ot the evening, “What is Life Without Love.” The production is scintillating with popular melodies that are sure to be heard everywhere for many months to come. The story concerns the romance between Ted Howard, hoofer, and Mary, a chorus girl. When their show goes broke the entire company is stranded in a tank town. Ted uses his i own hard-earned money to send the (chorus back to Nqw • -.York; ,/Mary urges Ted to join i'n a'team, act. They go to New York. Ted. meets Valeska, a musical comedy queen who Mis for him. She urges him to ; ; quit his act and become her leading man. He refuses because the offer does not include Mary. WhehNMary: learns what Ted has done, she decides to break up Their, .team, .and, thus, ,force him to accept the wonderful opportunity now within his, grasp. Mary gives Ted the impression that her action is prompted ;by her own selfish ambitions. Their parting is not very sweet. Ted gets ahead with Yaleska, who has taken complete possession of ’him. Mary and Ted are thrown together again when Mary .joins the chorus of the show. Valeska causes further misunderstanding between Ted and MaYy.
