AORANGI ARRIVES. (Australian Prass Association) (Received this day at 8 a.m.) SYDNEY, March :1. Arrived.—At four yesterday afternoon, Aorangi. Passengers were landed at the quarantine station for the strictest examination. A number were released to-night. The vessel goes -to her ordinary berth to-mGrrow. SYDNEY, March 1. Correction:--It is now stated to he unlikely that any Aorangi passengers will be released to-night. The medical examination is proceeding late tonight. It is extremely difficult to establish communication with either the quarantine station or the vessel. The mails, however, have been taken off. A number of golfers in a launch went to meet the Aorangi internationals who amused themselves by throwing golf balls at their launch friends. IN QUARANTINE. SYDNEY, March 1. | With the exception of nineteen whose vaccinations and reactions have been found to be satisfactory, all passengers I of the Aorangi will be quarantined at North Head, many for ten days and the remainder for at least five cla\s. The chief quarantine officer in making the announcement said, in all but nineteen cases of vaccinations had been found to be not in accordance with the Australian regulations. All passengers spent the night at the quarantine station. Among those to be released to-day is Walter Hagan, but his companion Kirkwood and Mr Haynes, the retiring Trade Commissioner in Canada are among those confined. About a hundred of the crew are also confined. AH cargo, including that cargo carried on from New Zealand, will be unloaded as usual. Those released are required to give a written undertaking that they will report daily until the 14th of March. SMALLPOX AT PERTH. (Received this dnv at 11 a.m A PERTH, March 1. The second case of smallpox developed at Woodmans Point, the patient being Sister Barbara, who attended the late Air Slirape at the hospital and was quarantined with him.
