WOMEN AND PANTS

THE; FRENCH SUIT. [United Press Association. —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright]. PARIS, Feb. 26. The case opened to-day in which Madame Morris claims £BOO from the Women’s Sporting Federation (for expelling her on account of her weai ing trousers at sports meetings, as well as when working at the garage belonging to her). The Sporting Federation was represented .by two women lawyers. Mme Morris’s male counsel turned to the women advocates and declared. 1 ‘ y o u women are in the forefront of women’s progress, and favour women’s rights. Therefore you should favour women wearing trousers. . ’ The women advocates smiled and snook their heads. They urged, in turn, that it is unnecessary to adopt masculine costume in sport. Furthermore they said Madame Morris’s striking personality might influence the other members of the Sporting Girls Federation to wear trousers. Decision was reserved.
