(United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) - ABOARD CITY OF N.Y., Feb. 26. We are now safe from the icefields. We are cruising along the edge of the pack, amongst the whalers. One of them lies ahead now, and all the morning tlie chasers have been in sight, hunting whales between big flat icebergs. Q The weather is ideal with a slight swell and a favourable wind. - Last night we crashed into several ice bergs which shook the mast. We hope we have them all behind us,now. We expect to meet -the Eleanor Bolling this afternoon. BYRD EXPEDITION. MESSAGE TO PRIME MINISTER. WELLINGTON, Feb. 26. The following telegram has been received by the Prime Minister from Admiral Byrd:—“All members of the expedition join in thanking you for your thoughtful and hospitable radio message. It is fitting at this time that I should tell you that the New Zealand members'of the expedition have done very splendid work, and 1 wish to give theni their share of the credit for the work which was accomplished in the face of hazards and great difficulty. This is only another one of the many instances where this expedition owes the people of New Zealand an everlasting debt of gratitude.’’
