SKI-ING GROUNDS DEVELOPMENT

— ARTHUR’S PASS NATIONAL PARK. ARTHUR’S PASS, February 2G. The committee of the Arthur’s Pass National Park Board, consisting of Mr W. Stewart, Commissioner of Crown Lands, Mr Roy Twyneliam (Christchurch.) Dr. Teichlemann, Mr M’Gavock and Mr Mackey (Westland), has been staying at Arthur’s Pass*to investigate matters concerning the development of the park. . The party arrived at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, had lunch and started for the Blimit Basin to investigate its possibilities with a view to building a hut at the 5000 ft level for ski-ing and climbing. The accessibility of this basin is shown by the fact that the members of the committee climbed to tlie basin and were back at the Hostel again before dark. Yesterday the party tried to find, if possible, a better route the ski-ing grounds. It is very imnortant for the hut to be at the "000 ft level, guaranteeing snow at least six months of the year. Test evening the party went 011 to Otira.
