RIFLE SHOOTING.
(By Telegraph—Press Association). TRKNTIiOM, Feb. 27. Riflemen were early astir this morning trying out their rifles on practice ranges at dawn. The feature of the meeting is the number of young shots wha have been attracted.
Addressing the competitors this morning, Colonel F. Cress well stated that the executive had altered the programme with the object of securing entries from younger shots and consequently shooting will be over an easy range I'm the Imperial Agrrogato before the Belt. series commence. Colonel E. R. Smith, Dunedin, when captain of Dunedin Cic Guards who won the Bolt in 1894-5, and a most consistent attendant, is fflosely followed ,by Thomas iFraser. of Knitniigata, the youngest shot, is a boy of lii. The present champion Ojotain .Masefield .(Marlborough) is defending the title. Proceedings commenced with compulsory service matches under perfect conditions, windless, absence of mir- 1 age and good light.
