A PLUCKY GIRL
RESCUES BATHERS

AUCKLAND Feb. 26
After a gallant struggle and without assistance, Miss Tola Munro, aged eighteen, rescued tbl-ee persons from drowning on the Mauriwai beach. Seeing two young then and a woman being carried seaward, she swam through the breakers and brought ashore Frank Cother who was exhausted. Returning she reached Jack Eliiot making a desperate fight against the undertow although unable to swim. He sent Miss Munro t r assist Miss Frances Kell, who she brought ashore nearly unconscious and herself exhausted. After a brief rest she plunged into the breakers again and reached the spot where Elliott had just sunk. She dived and dragged him to the’ surface and reached the shore before the third rescue was effected with assistance. It was three hours before Elliott regained consciousness.
