"* Joan Crawford plays the roie made famous by the great Sarah Bernhardt in “Dream of Love,” which open's tonight at the Princess Theatre as a new -vietro-Goldwyn Mayer feature. The h screen presentation is an adaptation of “Adrienne Lecouvreur;” faindus French play that was used by Bernhardt as a starring vehicle for many seasons. Fl'ed Nibio, in bringing this story' to the screen, has presented many scenes of rare cinematic brillian e and the love episodes between Asther and Miss' Crawford are handled with delicate ivarmih. In the film version the setting is laid in a mythical and picturesque Balkan kingdom. It tells o L the love romance between a wandering gypsy maid and the royal heir to a. throne. They meet at a circus car r nival-, and after a night of love are parted by the inexorable law which says that a member of royalty cannot wed 'a; commoner. How the status of- each undergoes a change, how they rise to heights of dramatic passion and sacrifice makes a play of unusual power and charm.
