THOUGHTS FOR THE TIMES

A GREAT EMPIRE. Not being an Englishman but coming tram across the Channel, from one of the Dominions, the Irish Free State, i feel that I can pay tribute to the centre ot the Empire, that part of the Empire which all the Dominions look to, and without which none of the Dominions would hold the position they do. What would the Irish Free State be without England and her markets? She would sink into significance. But with England behind the Dominions,' then their glory will be our glory, her glory will be their glory, one will help' the other and the Empire will remain' a sit always has been, the greatest Empire of the world. —Sir Harry Armstrong
