A FAREWELL
Chi Wednesday the Law Society met
in the office of Air E. C. Adams, L.L.8., and District Lund Begistrar, Hokitika, -to wish him farewell 011 his departure lor Nelson, wliero lie has been appointed to a similar position to that which he has held in Westland. With the Law . Society
were associated Air Carver (Clerk of of the Court) and staff, also Air Chetwvnd, of the Stamp Department. Air Park on behalf of those present, presented Air Adams with a gold mounted fountain pen, which lie said was a ’slight recognition of the obliging manner and the marked ability with which Air Adams had carried out his duties in Hokitika. The Law
Society was unanimous in expressing the loss the town and district sustained by tlie departure of such an excellent officer.
Air Alurdoch said lie could not speak too highly cf the ability and untiring devotion to business displayed by Air Adams. Especially was .this notices' hie in the methods adopted by Air Adams in nutting through the land transfer work and as Assistant Commbsioncr of Stamp Duties and the great benefit it was to know that when a document was brought forward to be able to gat it returned in a reasonable time.
Mr Sellers heartily supported what ethers had said. He hoped Mr Adams would have as pleasant a time in Nelson as lie had in Hokitika. Air Elcock also spoke highly of the courtesy and unfailing good nature of Air Adams in the work,
Mr Carver said he would like to ex nr ess his thanks for many courtesies extended to him. by Mr Adams, and he was really sorry he was going, even to a higher position.
Afr Adams thanked the friends for Dm kindly remarks made and said lie felt the parting very keenly, and would always look hack to his stay in Hokitika with feelings of pleasure. He thanked the donors for the handsome gift and hoped to meet them all again on a visit to Hokitika.
