(Australian Press. Association)
CANBERRA, Feb. 20
One of the Government’s first acts will be to repeal the Development and Migration Act, according to Mr Scullin, who says there is evidence on all sides of unemployment, not only among Australians but among migrants to whom we promised an Australian standard of living and an assured livelihood, The Commonwealth Ministry' will not be a party to the continuance of such an arrangement. The Prime Minister added that both the Federal and State Governments failed to meet the obligations under the Act, and the matter will be among those discussed at the Conference of Commonwealth and State Ministers at Canberra this week.
