There is dull weather for the test match, with a light breeze. The wicket and outfield are fast.
Matheson replaces Bad cock in the New Zealand team. The Englishmen arc standing down Turnbull ns twelfth man, Benson and Earle.
The Englishmen won the toss, Bowlev and Dawson opening to McGirr and Matheson. Just on noon the score was 39 for 0 wickets, (Bowlev 20. Dawson 14).
At 12.30. England had 1 down for GO, (Bowlev 41. Dawson, not out, 18). At the luncheon adjournment the score was 1 for 111 (Bowley, run out. 41, Dawson, not out, 28, Duleepsinhji not out, 44, extras 4).
