The Queen will open, next 1 uesday, a special clinic for specific treatment o>l rheumatism which is the first of many to be established throughout the country principally in the industrial areas bv the Red Cross Society with thy assistance and aproval of the Ministry of Health, it is estimated-that sixteen per cent, of industrial disability in Britain is due to rheumatic diseases, at an annual cost of £2,000,000 in sick benefits.
The clinics are to be equipped with all the latest methods for combating the scourge as recommended by the commission which has been investigating the subject in Britain and abroad. Apparatus for massage, special baths, artificial sun light and other forms of electrical treatment are to be made available to workers within easv reach of their homes.
