Air Henderson had addressed a message to Sir Esme Howard on his departure from Washington, where he has been British Ambassador since February 192-1. He says:—“l cannot allow you to leave "Washington on your retirement from the diplomatic service without expressing my deep and sincere appreciation of the work your Excellency has accomplished at the oost you are now relinquishing with, 1 know, so many regrets. Aon must indeed be happy to feel that the relations between the people of United States and Great Britain have never been more friendly and mutually helpful than they are to-day. This happy result is largely due as tributes paid to you and recognised to your personal influence and example. lam convinced posterity will have reason to be grateful to you if or the part you have played.”
