JUBILEE MEETING

TIMARU, Feb. 20.

The annual meeting of shareholders of the United Press Association was; held this afternoon.' The members present. were: Messrs A. G. Henderson (chairman, Christchurch Times),' L. Blundell (Evening Post), H. Horton (N:Zc..Herald); C. Stanley Smith (Dunedin Star), T. C. List (Taranaki News)! 10. Abbey Jones (Southland News), E... .. Kerr '..(Timaru Herald), R. B. BeW (Timaru Post), IT. W. Crawford (Whangarei Advocate),- T. M. Geddis (Napier Telegraph), R. P. Furness (Marlborough Express), A. L. Muir (Gisborne Herald); A. ’’A. Lucas (Nelson. Mail), W. Easton (Otago Times), J. Coombe (Manawatu Standard), F. A. Clarke (Auckland Star), A. M. Burns (Christchurch Press);. E. C. Hine (Sun Newspapers), C. W. Earle (Dominion),, T. Williams (Westport Times), W. Atkin:., (.Westport. News), W. C. Weston (Taranaki Herald), P. Bond (Hawera, Star).

The .Chairman, delivered an address dealing with the business of the year,, and gave a number of interesting facts and statistics as to . the progress of tne Association during its fifty years: or existence.

Messrs Henderson and W. Easton, the o.nly. nominees, were elected to the two vacancies oii the Board. Rotorua was selected as the next place .of meeting. An extraordinary meeting was then! held, at which a. number of amendments to the Articles of the Association . .were- passed., .At a meeting of the directors later, Mr E. Abbey Jone# was elected Chairman for the ensuing year. Mr A. G. Henderson tendered his resignation, and Mr A. M. Burns, of the Christchurch Press, was appointed to the vacancy thus created.
