NEW HEBRIDES SALE
FRENCH OFFER TO AUSTRALIA

LONDON, Feb. 18
The New Hebridean negotiator from France, whoso visit here was cabled on February 11th., interviewed Assistant Secretary Duffy, who has intimated to Sir G. Eyrie (Australian High Commissioner), an extension ol the period for consideration of the offer to dispose of interests in the New Hebrides to Australia.
The negotiator reiterated the option terminates on February 20th. Secretary Duffy protested that an extension was desirable lor enabling the fullest investigations to he made as to titles. *
The negotiator replied: “You have had ample time to investigate, hut it your Government is still unsatisfied, I will endeavour to obtain a short extension.”
It is understood that in tlie event of no sale to the Commonwealth Government, the Commonwealth Colonial Trading Organisation is desirous of buving the interests on offei.
