INTERESTING DISCOVERIES

[United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.]

LONDON, -Fob. 18

Tlie “Daily Mail’s” Jerusalem correspondent states : The Marston Expedition, whose work was cabled on February 10th. has now probed the lowest interior of the great mound of Jericho, and has located neolithie floors and hearths sixteen feet under the surface. There are indications of a • gient stone rampart, including a citadel, that covered ten acres, but the site vas levelled. After its destruction in 1600 BC., fresh walls were built, enclosing a smaller area. Dr Garstang is now tracing these lines of defence. The excavation is expected to prove of great Biblical interest.
