N.Z.E.F. CANTEEN FUND

WELLINGTON, Feb. 17

The annual report and balance sheet of the X.Z.K.F. Canteen and Regimental Funds Trust Board shows the total funds at February Ist. 1931, as £‘203,921 13s 8d of which i£202,889 is invested at an ■ average rate interest of £5 Us 8d per cent. The income and expenditure account shows* the expenditure for the year ending February Ist, 1930, ol £2OOO to Trentham scholarship*' fund for the education of children of deceased and disabled .soldiers making a total of £9,979 10s to date for this purpose.

Grants towards relief of unemployment among returned soldiers totalled £4,700 for the year making the total to date of £11,200. Compassionate grants for relief of distress in eases wiiich could not be met from local patriotic and ytlier funds or by pensions totalled £154 7s fid for the year making a total to date for this purpose of £343 2s Id. At its meeting the Board passed a resolution urging the Government to make public the report of the Royal Commission on rehabilitation of returned soldiers, ut the earliest pos* sible date in order that ample time may be given to many interested organisations for the study of its recommendations before it is presented to Parliament.
