CANADA AND AUSTRALASIAN TRADE.
(United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Oopyrigh l).
(Received this day at 10 a.m.) VANCOUVER, Feb. 13
Mr W. R. McMillan, a local lumber magnate, addressing tnc Trade Board, declared that the Australian Treaty was of great value to British Columbia despite the criticism in some quarters. For every million spent with Australia six million was returned. Irritation was felt in Australia over the application of the Dumping Act on butter sent to Canada. It constituted a tangle in which New Zealand was favoured. Last year Canada bought only 90,000 dollars’ worth of Australian butter, but 860,000 dollars’ worth from New Zealand. There was little justice in that. 14 Government should be urged to ensure that the Treaty would not be jeopardised or abrogated.
