TARANAKI’S PROGRESS.

HAWERA, Feb. 13
That advance is being made in the swimming sport in Taranaki was demonstrated yesterday afternoon and evening when eight of the centre records were broken at the annual championships. The new records were set in fresh water baths, though the times eclipsed were, with the exception of the junior hoys fifty yards,
made in salt water. The details of the new records are Junior Girls, 50 yards, Miss E. Kulsen 38secs (previous 40 l-ssecs); Junior Boys 50 yards, J. Campbell 35 1-f/ (previous 35 3-5). Fresh Water Intermediate Girls 50 yards, N. Duckworth 35 (previous 37 4-5. Intermediate Boys 100 yards, Jabson 68 4-5 (previous 70 2-5.) Ladies 100 yards, Miss D. Fowler 80 2-5. (previous 83.) Mens 50 yards H. St George. .28.3-5 (previous 2S 4-5). t Mens 100 yards, H. St George 64 3-5 (previous 66 3-5.) Mens 100 yards Breaststroke, W. Mundy 84 (previous 84 3-5.)
