• AUCKLAND, Feb. 10. ' The professional wrestling season opened here to-night, when George Walker, the British Empire and Canadian heavyweight champion, defeated Fred Ebert, the heavyweight champion of Australia, by ,two falls to one. Walker secured a fall, in the second round, with an armlock and body scissors, , , ......
Ebert evened up in the - fourth • round with a fall by means of a back loop slam. . The deciding fall came in the sixth ! round, .when. Walker lifted his oppon- ken,t bodily, hurled him to the canvas, and then pinned him. It was ajf ■ strenuous and : exciting bout, with a’ fair amount of .roughness at the opening of the sixth round, Walker threw the Australian right out of the ring. There was a large attendance of the* ipuiblio, which became thoroughlyroused on several occasions.
